But on the plus side, Market Basket will soon be back in business, and the good guys won! Hurray! (It's a Boston thing, but it's been making national news.)
Sad. Always was a great place for a burger and shake as well as a pretty good breakfast. Will be missed on my next trip to Damascus.
Don't go to Dot's they allow dogs in there.
Just happy to fan the fire between bad trail dog owners and those who prefer not to meet bad trail dog owners and their obviously untrained dog who should not be on trail given their training who make things bad for good trail dog owners.
Stopped there for breakfast with several other thru-hikers in 2011. Good breakfast if I recall.

To bad, I liked Dairy King. I didn't like Dots or the Blue Blaze cafe.

Now that I think of it - there was a weird AT connection in the Market Basket imbroglio (which lasted all summer and is just now ending.) Basically it was an internal family feud between two cousins, Arthur T. and Arthur S. DeMoulas. Employees, store managers and customers were fiercely loyal to the former. Stores were boycotted all summer. Here are the lights in front of one of the stores a few weeks ago. Only the letters A and T were left on, to show solidarity with "Arthur T".

When I was there I could see into the kitchen from where I was seated, and the lady who was serving us (not sure if that's Dot or not) was smoking while she was fixing our lunch. Hahaha that was hilarious, never seen that before.

having no idea (and don't really care) what all this feud was about, I'll just say...that's awesome. Way to twist it.
Could have been worse, at least she wasn't scratchin' her balls.
I've worked in many commercial kitchens, and they all have their "What the %$#@!" issues, from the hole in the wall (literally) small places, to the $75 dollars for an entree. All depends on how tight a ship the manager runs.
Dot's has sold. new owner will not serve alcohol
and the Blue Blaze cafe closed for good today
Actually as of Dec 1 2009, Virginia implemented a no smoking law in all restaurants. Guess it depends...
Yes and in the recent election Damascus majority voted 'Yes' to liquor by the drink.
