To some extent I get that but I'm surely appreciative of all the ATC does to NOT LET THAT BE THEIR STATUS QUO ITINERARY ALL THE TIME!

I've seen so many promises made by those involved in the casino industry and the political(economic) process that approves of such activities that go unfulfilled or create other negative consequences that are ignored or skewed so the public only sees the potential positive aspects of legalized gaming.

The AC gaming industry will consolidate but surely is being economically negatively affected by the rise of more gaming avenues such as the building of casinos closer to major population centers, on line gaming, the relatively high dollar amount the state of NJ takes from the casino industry, etc

And, how would you feel if the logging industry decided to begin operations in view of where you live?

The Cherokee Indians are expanding their casino ventures by building a new one in our small town of Murphy, NC. Most everybody is optimistic on how the casino will impact our area. The casino they have in Cherokee NC, which is only about and hour drive from here, has been very successful.

Just the opposite...I'm tired of seeing our wildlands which provide so much being needlessly destroyed! Imo

There are ways to develop natural areas to make them accessible.

Now if I saw evident that casino developers are making it a priority to get people to appreciate the goodness of the land that we all need, then maybe I would reconsider.

"Deny others the goodness of the land?" What the heck are you talking about? Because I'm talking about bunch of greedy developers destroying a forest and replaceing it with a highway extension and a hastily built resort packed with elderly gambling addicts pissing away what is left of their retirement. Greed and the wilderness are not compatible bedfellows, never have been, never will be. As I already stated the casino market in the tri-state area is already clearly and demonstrably oversaturated, we aren't denying anything to anyone, except possibly the right of a few people to make a quick buck at the expense of the locals.

What seems sadder to me is that NY is so willing to drive out manufactures such as Remington; companies that actually manufacture something and replacing it with revenue generation that produces nothing.

Or imagine this, you wake up in your tent on a beautiful morning to the sight and sounds of a 1000 room casino/resort and the traffic that it brings.

Revenue for state governments and the local govs. and schools is the carrot these developers always dangle to get the needed approval to build. The revenue never amounts to what they promised." White man speak with forked tongue"

I've never seen wilderness that would be enhanced by the addition of cars, pavement or buildings. If you want to see wilderness "enhanced" like this, go to Gatlinburg.
