Default Hiking HWY 60 to Springer during Deer Season?

Is there hunting, especially deer hunting, along the Benton MacKaye Trail section from Hiking HWY 60 to Springer?

I guess that would be like right now.

    Thanks.

Yes, there are currently hunters in the area and using the trail.

In the past I'm pretty sure I pissed off a handful of hunters but ..... I'm actually planning on hiking the BMT/DRT ---Hwy. 60 to 180 and back on Friday-28,29
All I remember is that there is a boundary for the WMA. I plan on putting something a little jingly on my UD Fastpack as well as orange shirt and hat.

I am hoping to do the GA BMT or a portion of it at least this winter.

This past weekend I saw someone hunting right on the AT. Kind of freaked me out. I had to descend the mountain with him above me. I was not happy with the situation!

i kind'a trust hunters not to shoot me. however i am aware that my chosen campsite may be the backstop beyound the deer being hunted. when ever i hear shooting i blow on my super loud whisle to give hunters something to think about.

Met a hunter on the DRT a few weeks ago very nice young man, gave me two bottles of much needed water. Always wear orange hat or orange vest in the woods during deer season no matter where you are. Make sure you are seen for what you are. Hunters will appreciate that also.
