Default Beautiful View of Mt. Mitchell Right now!

This image is from the NC high peaks web cam with a little retouch by yours truly. This image shows the west side of the Mt. Mitchell ridge with Deep Gap at center. It is possible to hike a contiguous 7miles in this area without ever dropping below 6000' elevation. (According to a ridge line trace I did using Google Earth)

I've hiked this in deep snow and below 0 temps - that's quite an experience ! Regardless the time of year it's a beautiful hike
The only thing better than mountains, is mountains where you haven't been.

I've lived in California, Colorado and Montana, but there's still something about the Appalachians in winter that really captivates me. In February of this year I hiked Comissary Ridge to Mt. Mitchell summit in knee deep snow (3600' elev gain) had an excellent crew to hike with. That was epic! Won the BRO Snowday photo contest- (now I'm bragging

"Rhino" I live in TEXAS and know we have mountains as well....ya, they are down south in the "Big Bend" , however, they may not always be as nice as the photo in this tread.....

There are wonders out there, now to find them.

Always get the Williams and Mitchells mixed up. Related to both clans.
