Looks like there will be plenty of company. I have been asking about the same thing as I intend to start late FEB - mid MAR. Already been in contact with one of the other guys in the forum. This will be my first goal set for after I retire. Have wanted to do it for a while but not much flexibility was offered in my job. I would guess that a few people starting out together would be a good thing as long as the group is not too big. Just a thought.

I might end up being able to do only 50% of the trail (car trouble yay) but I'm looking forward to it! Hopefully this year's Black Friday/Cyber Monday and New Years will get me some steep discounts on gear. I need to make up 634 dollars and 75 cents.

I plan to start on May 1, 2016. I plan to do a flip flop from Harpers Ferry, W.Va., north to Katahdin; Harpers Ferry, W.Va., south to Springer Mountain. I know of at least two more who will start about the same time.

Southbounder here in 2016 - looking like mid-July, beginning of August. I'm quitting IT and becoming a homesteader working odd jobs after the AT, in a little shed to cabin conversion back in TN.

After living out of a backpack, that shed will be like a mansion

I want to start as early as I can for a NOBO but also don't want to hike in really bad weather. If it is not to rough of a winter I will be leaving closer to Feb. I would hope my latest possible start would be mid-March.
