Default Cheese Sauce for the trail?

Hi, all. I'm putting together food for this year and looking for new cheese sauce options for my mac n cheese. Last year I used the Velveeta packets out of the single serve microwavable bowls. Not very cost effective and kinda wasteful, so I need a better option.

I did find Velveeta now has a box of just 3 packets, but the packets are too much for a serving for me. I don't mind the weight, but...

Guessing there have to be some good cheese sauce powders out there?

    Thanks!

    I haven't found a cheddar cheese sauce I like.

How about alfredo (cheese) sauce mix? Knorr, Simply Organic, McCormick.

Might one of these be something that would work for you?

I used to be able to buy cannisters of the cheese powder used in kraft macaroni and cheese, add in some fat and its works well (expect for the orange coloring).

2 parts Barry Farm cheddar cheese powder to 1 part Nido dry whole milk powder. Add liquids (water/broth) and solids (mac/meat/veggies) to taste. Can be carried in bulk for pot meals or prepackaged single servings for eating out of the bag. A few drops of canola oil gives it a nice texture but olive oil will overpower the cheese flavor.

the BEST cheese powder to bring.

Can get it a lot of places, like Amazon, its amazing on all trail foods. 1lb bag has 2000 calories - it's a practical meal replacement. I used it on my AT hike, I store it at home, and use it just in general still. It's amazing.

Second this - I bring these on every hike and mix them with whole-wheat elbow macaroni or couscous or brown rice or (occasionally) bulgur wheat.
