    Default Tyvek tarp?

I have a bunch leftover, and I was trying to figure out some uses for it on the trail. I weighed as to whether I would make a tarp of it. Has anyone had some experience as to whether it would continue to be waterproof for the entire trail?

Go check out hammockforums.net and do a search for "ugly tarp". Lots has been written about making one of these.

We use tyvek for a grund coth, especially in shelters. Never thought of making a tarp out of it, sort of heavy compared to silnylon.

Free is a lot cheaper than silnylon.

Tyvek's water resistance will last the entire trail, but you really need to pay attention to construction techniques. It's non-woven so sewing it can lead to problems.
