I suspect the media circus will be kept either near the park entrance or in Millinocket.
As of 0855, it looks like he is moving again. It looks to me like approximately 62 miles to the finish.

What I'm curious about is, after he makes the final climb and finishes, will giant eagles come, pick him up, and fly him back to his crew?
Just a thought.
I'm pretty bad at math, but it looks like he has to maintain an average of about 1.9 mph over the next 32 hours. It looks like he should be able to pick up his speed over much of what he has today...I just hope the increase in speed and the sleep deficit doesn't get him him hurt.

Looks like he should be able to cover some good ground through this section here.
Thanks OddManOut for the graph.
Media: Can we have a permit to go in to Baxter and cover this?
BSP: Well, yeah, I guess so. But only one, and with the following conditions, blah blah blah.
Media: Okay, oh, and a helicopter?
BSP: This. (NSFW)

He's got this. I'm 95% sure now.
Cooper Brook Falls Lean-to (2129.5), 59.7 left.
Backpacking light, feels so right.
Is it possible that they let him start into BSP before the crowd of people start or maybe just ahead of them? Will he be there in time for that?

My end-of-Day-45 location is a little arbitrary since it appears he never stopped overnight. It's just the approximate point where he was exactly 45 days after he began.
So after day 45 he's about 66 miles from the finish. After 45 days JPD was 96 miles from the finish -- but she got close to a full night's sleep on night 45 and Jurek didn't sleep at all as far as I can tell.
The second half of the 100 mile Wilderness is much flatter than the first half so it's possible he may be able to go faster than the 2 mph he averaged in the first half -- we will see. A 2 mph pace from Little Boardman Mtn. to the top of Katahdin would have him finishing about 2 hours ahead of JPD.

At the base of the Hunt Trail, there is a clipboard for people to sign just before they head up the trail. There is no way to regulate when people camping, thru-hikers who are finishing their journey, other people already in the park, and the day hikers all begin their journey up the mountain.
It is going to be a gorgeous Sunday and I suspect there will be many on the trail tomorrow. I know I would be seriously torqued if I was finishing my AT hike and a crew came up and said "could you please step aside because so-and-so is coming through." Not that Scott's crew would do that/is planning to do that... That would actually be negative publicity for him if people were to get upset. I'm just saying that so goes against the normal AT experience. I also think that is highly unlikely to happen in this instance.
Scott made the choice to do his trek this way and he needs to figure out a way around the people who are also part of the trail.
How about an epic sunrise pic from on top of Katahdin? Don't know if he could up the pace that much (I think he can go for the big finish - have a tough time believeing he'll settle for just a couple of hours off the record with nothing outstanding) and I don't know if the people at the park would accommodate him, but it would make for a great pic and a wonderful ending (probably work well in a book too!)
