Certainly, if Scott and his entire crew, as you suggest, conspired to cheat, there is really not any way to know for sure. The point remains however, that technology has reached a point it can be used for route verification and transparency. Since the record holder tends to set the standards for the next attempt, I can see this being a staple tool. Perhaps the next attempt will not use an editing function, or make arrangements with the vendor to not allow it. Everything improves over time, record keeping included.

Earlier I posted the idea oThef someone trying to set a new FKT at a mile an hour or better, which this year would be 2189.2 hours, so I said. My math was off by a factor of two. Scott and Jen eac averaged a but over 2 mph, but 1. The idea would still be neat - do the whole thing at a 2 mph pace or better. Would be 45d 15h or so.
    The more miles, the merrier!

Yeah that was a gem of a post by Fredt4. I understand "for me", so he verified the alternate universe excuse I was thinking of.

I was out to a movie and missed the finish. Congrats Scott. I'll have to do some wrap up number crunching later.

Good for Scott. I recently re-read this whole thread.....seems to me, there were some very outspoken people some weeks back, who were quite outspoken in terms of his hike, the direction of his hike, his chances for completion, etc. These folks seem to be very quiet in recent days. As well they should be. Plain and simply, this is the time to say "Congratulations!!" or say nothing at all. I think what he did is great.

And, on the 42 day 9th hr he rested. Amen

Congratulations to Scott Jurek, his wife, entire team, and all who supported him. Thx so much SJ for demonstrating again to all of us to push the realm of the so called impossible into the possible.

You had more than a few of us wondering about what was happening at several points.

I don't believe Doyle posts here, so let's not bring his negativity to this thread.
