cuben fiber dry bag as water bladder?

I just ordered two cuben fiber dry bags from Mountain Laurel Designs. On their website they have a picture of one being used to carry water in, has anyone done this? I'm getting these to store my spare clothing in, but thought if I need to carry extra water from a source to camp this might not be a bad idea. Then I wouldn't have to carry a dedicated spare bladder for that purpose. I could also turn it inside out when collecting water so the inside would remain dry when returning my clothes to it.

I wouldn't count on it...my only experience with cuben dry bags are zpacks food bags and they get holes pretty easily. Might work in a pinch while new to wash clothes in but wouldn't want to carry water in a pack.

Might work for a bit in a pinch, but you'd be better off carrying water in a container designed and mad using materials more appropriate for holding water over a period of time. I have a cuben Zpacks food bag and it looks like it developed pinholes where there were folds. (My first and probably last cuben fiber item.)

Agree... if you're talking about hitting a shelter and then humping water back from a further than convenient source you're probably okay. Same with maybe filling up and hand carrying for a mile or so to use at a dry camp. But don't plan on putting it into your pack or even strapping it on.

Just a further caution... It'll work fine when it arrives and you fill it in the bathtub. Probably work fine for a shakedown hike around the block. But at some point it will get pinholes as all CF does. Long story short- it'll work right up until you start to trust it- then when you least suspect it- it won't.

My thoughts exactly! I would only use this in a pinch if I needed the extra water and wasn't too close to the source and didn't have my dedicated dromedary with me.
