Santize a Gravityworks Carbon Element Filter?

I have a Sawyer Mini for filtration with a Gravityworks Carbon Filter as a secondary filter. I know I run bleach water through the mini for sanitation after a trip, but I can't find anything on the carbon filter on how to sanitize. my previous trip I used it, but did not sanitize thinking only the filtered water goes through it. Now I am wondering if there is some post trip cleaning needed for the carbon filter.

I searched and could not find anything specific to the carbon filter, just the Gravity works normal filter.

You can run bleach water through it, but the carbon will actually remove bleach from water, so you may just be prematurely wearing out the filter. I've not used the sawyer mini nor the gravityworks but if there is a way to let the filter completely dry out it should be fine until your next use.
