    Default Senior hiker wanted

I am planning a hike from Erwin Tn to Damascus Va during June 2016. This is about 100 miles. I have done several shorter hikes including two on the AT. I look forward to the challenge. If you are interested please contact me and we can talk about the details. The other hiker who was going had an illness in the family and had to back out so I have done some of the planning.

Sounds like a great trip, though sadly I won't be able to join you. If I were doing this section again, I would start in Damascus and head south, as the first 50 miles are then easier than the second 50, rather than the other way around. I know you didn't ask for advice, so please take this as a friendly suggestion.

Have a great trip, June is a lovely time to be hiking in NC and TN.

I am planning a 100 mile hike for this June or July too but was thinking of Harpers ferry southbound just because it is easier for me to drive to. How much further would I have to drive to get to the area you are talking about?

I have been considering doing that section sometime this year. I was thinking of doing it from Damascus to Erwin. Stay in touch closer to June and I may can join you.

The internet says it's 5 1/2 from H F to Damascus. I am driving from MO and hope this post leads to hiking several sections. If you have any interest let me know and we can talk by phone. Our plans have to be somewhat compatible. I am pretty flexible but have no desire to do 12 to 15 miles every day.

I don't do big miles either...I like to go slow and see the sights...plus I am a flatlander so it takes a while to get my legs used to climbing any kind of hill at all!! Last July I did 63 miles in PA and took 5 days to do it.

Sounds like we have somethings in common. If you're interested let's figure out how we can talk on the phone and explore this further. I don't even know how to reply privately on this forum.

    Hi Hiker Mo,
my son and I did part of this stretch, from Iron Mtn Gap to Roan Mtn, last year. The rhododendron and mountain laurel were spectacular.
I might be interested in joining you for the northern part, from hwy 19E to Damascus, if the timing works out

My brother screwed up my plans for the first 2 weeks of June. How about the last 2 weeks of May or June? Please email me at [email protected]

I would like to do the 100 miles South of Damascus VA. I lean toward South to North but I am flexible. I am also somewhat flexible about the month but July and Aug sound hot.

I'm interested also. I 've been planning to do a week or so section this year and have not decided when or where. I was considering Shenandoah NP or perhaps The Foothills Trail in SC. The area you considering are also of interest to me. About 10 miles a day are comfortable for me. Send a PM If your interested.

I think it would help if you were able to be specific on a date. I'd like to do that stretch southbound but timing is an issue...

Is 50 too young? I'm really wanting to do some section hiking and I'm good with 10 miles or less per day. I like to enjoy the journey.
