    Default Any hikers starting late June??

    I'm section hiking the trail starting late june going NOBO from springer to about the mason dixon line. How empty is the trail gonna be around that time?

    It's summer. And vacation time. And school is out. Empty it won't be. Even though it's hot and humid, people will still be out hiking. Expect it to be crowded on weekends and even more so during holiday weekends. Great Smoky Mountain National Park gets 9 million visitors a year, most of them in July through August. Shenandoah National Park will also be crowded, as will some of the other more popular areas of Virginia like Grayson Highlands, Mt. Rogers, McAfee Knob, etc.

    I was on the trail in June to July...Springer to Fontana...not crowded...ran into a few groups here and there , but hiked many days alone and spent some nites alone. Sort of a nice mix!
