Outer Gear for late March/Early April hike from Springer

Doing some research on fleece/down jackets for chilly nights at camp or even out on the trail. Only plan on being out there for two weeks, tarting in Springer and ending our hike somewhere in NC. Assuming normal conditions, what is the best way to go as far as a fleece or down jacket if we don't want to spend a ton of money. Already planning on packing long underwear for sleeping. Thanks in advance for any advice.

For insulation cheapest would be a couple fleece layers, anything from thrift to big box. If you want inexpensive down try sierra trading post (be sure to get at least xtra 30% coupon online) or uniqlo. Do you have rain gear?

It would be really hard to beat this deal. Pit zips too. A must have with rain gear.

My rain jacket was £3. Very easy to beat $99 for a vapour barrier if you ask me.
