I'm using the Lowe Alpine Contour III I've had for 15 years. I purchased an Osprey Aether 70 recently for the weight savings, but, when I got it home, I really missed the external pockets and organizing options of my Lowe Alpine. Two pound weight saving or not, I took it back. I've used the Lowe Alpine on Section hikes on the AT in Georgia and really didn't mind the extra weight. HYOH, I suppose. Time will tell. If I find that I want a lighter pack, there are plenty of outfitters along the way.

I love all my packs. I have used the Arc Blast 52 of late, but I am totally considering starting my thru with my ULA P1, which is now being "refurbished" by ULA.. I guess I can't go wrong with either.

I used a ULA Circuit for years, but last year switched to a Zpacks Arc Haul.

This is my same pack and same thought process. Hopping on the PCT in a handful of weeks and hopefully it serves me well.

+1 on the Arc Haul. Same as the Blast but more durable, cheaper and only a few oz heavier. I really like it and the guys over at ZPacks are awesome...amazing customer service. I'm waiting on the arrival of my Duplex next month!

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Windrider 3400. Light, durable and highly functional. All the external pockets work great for me. Tons of space in the rear mesh, can easily retrieve a water bottle without dislocating a shoulder and the hipbelt pockets hold a lot. Although the suspension is minimal it does have a frame and feels like just enough for comfort to me. It held up very well over a six month thru hike, a few dings but definitely ready for 1000+ more. Unfortunately my experience with their customer service about some minor repairs post hike turned into a frustrating multi-month ordeal. Not sure how common that is with them.

I just got a ZPacks that is a hybrid between the Haul and the Zip. I haven't used it yet on the trail, but it packs so well and makes it easy to access my gear. I plan to do a video on it soon.

Definitely interested in the video. I love my Haul but I always like to see reviews from others on things I've committed so much money to!

Kelty Yukon or Alps Outdoorz Commander with (at least) the gun sling, hold-open frame, and girlfriend's seat removed.

The Osprey Atmos AG is actually the most comfortable internal frame I've tried so far in that capacity range, but I haven't tried on a lot because I like external. The velcro on the adjustable belt disgusted me a little, but with the price of that pack its nice to get a little reach-around. Seriously though, I think the pack is worth the money for somebody who wants that kind of pack. I'd like to try an Exos and compare.

I must admit it was a toss-up between the ULA Circuit and the ZPacks Haul for me....cost vs weight.
