When desiring a larger sized convenience packet I've been buying these 1.o6 fl oz 258 cal each Artisana Coconut Oil Organic 100 % Virgin for about $1.60-1.80.

Blends nicely to Knorrs Thai Curry Rice & Pasta Side, bought 3 packages for $2(67 cts each), with a tablespoon of raw sesame seeds, bought in bulk at Whole Foods for about $3/lb, and extra dash of red curry powder. Could add some shredded dried coconut too. Easily makes a 800+ cal dinner under 6 Oz for about $3 or less(using the small Vita Coco Coconut Oil packet .

Umm, this thread is in the Food Forum. Coconut oil is food and can be used for many other purposes. Umm, some hikers crave convenience and a different taste alternative. Some hikers seek additional alternative "good?" fats in their trail diets.

The purpose is about having options by considering this information and availability of a product.

Don't know if anyone here is into MCT oil, but this intrigues me:
    Quest Nutrition MCT Powder Oil

I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it would be really easy to throw some in a ziplock and throw a scoop into your coffee, granola, dinner, etc.

OK, thanks. I carry olive oil but really doesn't make your oatmeal taste any better. I've never had Coconut oil but I can only guess it tastes a little lighter and sweeter...
