    Default Tick Question

I had my first serious tick encounter this last weekend.

I often had 10-15 on me and came home with one embedded in me.

I had my stuff in the trunk on the way home. I've washed my sleeping bag and pack at the laundromat.

Question: What about my car? Should I check myself for ticks after driving? For how many days/weeks? The trunk?

    Thanks!

During the season, I treat my car interior every month with Sawyer permethrin spray. I use InsectShield clothing and spray my pack, but I'll often give thrus I meet while on day hikes rides to town, etc. and don't want any stowaways. I treat the mats, carpets, and the interior of the trunk (all carpeted). I just got a new vehicle with leather seats, so I don't think I'll be spraying those. On the older car with the cloth seats, they get treated. It wouldn't hurt to spray your car interior, if nothing else for peace of mind.

Yeah, I might spray the inside of the trunk with Sawyer Permethrin.

If the weather is hot where you are, Leave the car parked in direct sun for the day with the windows closed . That often gets a vehicle hot enough to slow cook most insects.
