I've heard of a "house on fire" ...but never a "mouse on fire". Guess in this case it was one in the same thing.

I had an obnoxious brother-in-law once who used to laugh about how "funny" it was the time he dipped a cat in gasoline and lit it on fire.

The cat ran into a barn and burned down both the barn and the farmer's winter supply of hay for his dairy cows.

That dude was still an idiot to be burning leaves in high winds in New Mexico during a drought and a period of rampant wildfires. He's a moron by either vector..

I hate to be a spoilsport, and I'm no great defender of mice, but I find it hard to laugh at a story that involves someone purposely burning an animal to death.

Mice are vermin, Colter. They serve a purpose, but not when they're trying to nibble me to death in a shelter. They deserve to die. Perhaps an illustration will help:

    Us: Humans
    Them: Animals

I found the story of the guy who killed something like 30 mice with a mousetrap baited with peanut butter overnight in a shelter seriously hardcore. That guy deserves a medal as far as I'm concerned.

I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.

Mice, rats, meadow voles, shrews, etc.... are generally referred to as 'buffer species' in that they can reproduce very rapidly and provide a constant and renewable supply of food for a variety of higher organisms. Nothing wrong with their demise...PROVIDED....

THAT THE ORGANISM WHO KILLS THEM CONSUMES THEM!!

An old adage says: You can kill anything you want here: provided you eat what you kill and kill nothing you won't eat.

    Bon apetit.
