    Default NC to GA.. (Sobo)

Hey guys, I am planning on doing the Ga leg of the AT. I want to start in NC and hike down. Having a hard time finding somewhere near the state line to be dropped off. Help!

I did this and started at Tellico Gap. Worked out pretty well and was an exceptional section. Good luck!

Deep Gap just south of Standing Indian
Remote for detachment, narrow for chosen company, winding for leisure, lonely for contemplation, the Trail beckons not merely north and south, but upward to the body, mind, and soul of man.

Deep gap for sure. Also recommend Ron Brown for the shuttle.

If you don't mind backtracking to the GA/NC line, there is a road that crosses the AT around 3 miles from the state line. The crossing is 34.958769°, -83.596240°. The following coordinates are probably close to where a shuttle would drop you off: 34.958625°, -83.605959°.

How much time do you have? How far would you like to go?

Deep Gap is a common starting point, it's on a FS road. Or start at Standing Indian Campground and hike up the Kimsey Creek Trail to Deep Gap.

Plenty of people just start at Dick's Creek Gap. Yes, it's already in Georgia, but it's a main road and has easy access.

We have 7 days. Gonna be about this time next year. Would like to try and make Am falls state park. Our plan B would be Unicoi.

If you have 7 days, I would say have Ron Brown pick you up at Amicalola after dropping your car there and drive you to Dicks Creek Gap. That is very manageable in 7 days.
