Default Cuben fiber tarp need hemming?

Would a DYI .51 cuben fiber tarp need to be hemmed?
Does the hemming add to the functionality and strength? Or is only for looks?

It may weaken it if sown, but may stop fraying at the ends. I would consider taping it with cuban tape which is permanent.

You will need to put reinforcement patches at all tie outs. And I would use a simple stitched rolled hem. Set your machine so that they are long stitches and you will be fine.

If it were me, I would glue it, using McNett Sil Net or similar
