Default Re-supply out of Harper's Ferry North bound

What are the best 2 four day re-supply places going north bound out of Harper's Ferry? Going on a 10-12 day hike in mid October. Been doing research, but finding conflicting info. Anyone on Whiteblaze do this area recently? Thanks! Hike On!!!

    Possibly check out: http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/hostels-2016.php

Some of the Hostels in the area might either offer mail drop or could help with resupply.

When are you on the trail?
Should be doing a SOBO for the MD section.
Starting in Pen Mar the 17th and hoping to reach Harper's Ferry the 20th.

    hope it helps.

Opportunities for resupply are pretty frequent in that area. The AT guide lists them all. Smithburg is a few days out from HF (33 miles) and easy to get into and out of. Next stop is Fayetteville, PA (26 miles) which has a supermarket 0.8 miles west of the trail. The store at Pine Grove Furnace will probably be closed, so the next opportunity will be Mt Holly Springs (31 miles). Not much for resupply at Boiling Springs other then snacks at the convenience store. You'd have to make it all the way to Duncannon, but that's only 34 miles from Mt Holly Springs.

It all depends on how far you want to go between resupply. It's kind of a hard decision since the average distance between these places is about 30 miles, which puts them 2 -2.5 days apart, but if you go to every other one, that's more like 60 miles which could be 5 days apart given the shorter days. But going into town cuts into the day and you have little daylight to waste.

besides resupply, theres food everywhere, which means less resupplying is necessary. local restaurants deliver to pen mar, caledonia and pine grove furnace, and the hostel at pine grove serves food. plenty of restaurants in boiling springs and, while ahrd to get to, theres stuff to be at the highway crossing near carlisle. theres a super market right next to a restaurant just down the road from caledonia too.

I believe that the PO in Boiling Springs is right off the trail.

There is also a campground called Mtn Creek just north of Michaux State Forest (44 miles north of MD/PA border) and sits .8 miles off the trail. It will be open until the end of October and will have necessary supplies as well as ice cream and a food stand.

It's across the street from the ATC office.
