This is the song I often sang to myself at the early stage of my NB thru hike,
    Del Shannon - "Runaway"
    .....
    I'm a-walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me
    To end this misery
    .....

When I'm hiking I dont really listen to much music, I hum a lot and sing under my breath. Oddly one of the songs that sticks in my head in the old Soviet Union anthem. I guess I watched "Hunt for Red October" too many times. The other is Beethoven's 9th symphont, the choral part (Ode to Joy). However, after rolling my ankle twice in 100 yards once hike, I started swearing a blue streak. I don't shun "curse words". I enjoy swearing, and have refined it into an art form, inventing new ones when old words wear out. This particular hike, I was humming the 9th (just the music, I don't speak German), when I rolled my ankle the second time. So I started singing the "F" word to the tune of Ode to Joy. It's incredibly absurd, one of the most beautiful pieces of music set down by the hand of man, with the lyrics replaced by one of the most offensive words in English.
So now when I'm feeling bad or tired or the weather is nasty, I stroll along and sing "Beethoven's 9th Symphookny in F Major". It's guaranteed to make me feel better.

Yay, rain songs! I've pretty much learned to embrace the suck. Except cold, raw, icing, never-ending suck...

Led Zep, Rain Song (sufficiently depressing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDVnjCwCYCs
CCR, Have You Ever Seen the Rain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TS9_ipu9GKw
    Clapton, Let It Rain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmlVcF3BAD0
Doors, Riders on the Storm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS-af9Q-zvQ

After a couple of days of cold rain:
CCR, Who'll Stop the Rain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIPan-rEQJA
    GnR, November Rain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0McfH-hweQ

    YMMV, and invariably will...

Did no one mention Dee Clark's 1961 hit Raindrops? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUnwOwz6OvQ.

Even further back, how about "The Rain in Spain" from the musical My Fair Lady., the facts of which can be confirmed or denied by experienced Camino Santiago hikers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmADMB2utAo

And then's there "Summer" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons for my fellow Baroque music fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY1p-FmjT1M

What about rain and fog? Quite common on the AT. More often than not, Gordon Bok's Bay of Fundy goes thorugh my mind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6tBSZVaaZI I like the line "I don't mind the wet and cold, I just don't like the growing old."

+3 for The Dead songs "L.L. Rain", "Box of Rain" (Yay Phil!!!) and "Cold Rain and Snow"

    How about a whole album...

Pavement: "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" 1994
    90's Indie/Slacker/College Radio at it's absolute finest!
they had many good LP's, but this is the one that got me hooked!
Their song "Spit on a Stranger" from "Terror Twilight" almost fits the category!

    R.I.P. great Prince!
What a great talent he was!
The Bangles "Manic Monday" was a Prince song...Reference to water in that song is the "crystal blue Italian stream"

Rain, rain, rain down on me.
    Again, and again.
    Rain down on me.

    Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.

"Rhapsody In The Rain," Lou Christie, 1966ish. This is the version the late Dick Clark banned from American Bandstand because "it violated America's morals." LOL. Sounds like a nursery rhyme today.

"Kentucky Rain," by Elvis Presley. Maybe not for the AT, but trails in Land Between The Lakes?
