    Default Camouflage or White Tyvek

This is the cheapest I have ever found...unless you get some for free that is.
Yet I never have seen this in Camouflage before.

For anyone needing a ground cloth or tarp or for whatever.
Here is the link, the man is trustworthy and sells it on eBay for only .99 cents a foot and only $5.00 flat rate for shipping.
You can buy up to 50 feet if you need it.
    Enjoy

Looking at the photos makes me wonder if is it Tyvek or a similar product. I haven't seen Tyvek with a "bubble" or square pattern before as appears in the photos of the plain and the camo as shown in the above links. No big deal, I guess, if it works, it works. Just wondering.

I've never heard anyone really consider Tyvek "breathable" either. Someone made a suit from it and said it felt like a steam room. But like you said, whatever works.

Hummm :"breathable" he did not state on his auction with the camo ...allowing vapor to escape he did.

Use it for what its worth...a ulta light weight ground cloth.
Either way its a great buy for anyone looking for one, and wants something a little better than a trash bag. Enjoy :P

In the context of housing it is breathable, which is it's intended use. This is not to be construed as breathable for wear as a suit.

Guess that sounded argumentative, huh? Didn't really mean it that way.

I agree with both of the above - it probably works well for its intended use, and it works great as a ground cloth (except it freezes to the snow and the white is hard to see on it...don't think that'll be much of an issue on the AT, though).

But his auction was in the context of hiking, where breathable has a different connotation - just wanted to be clear that it's not breathable like Goretex, Epic, etc.

It is a pretty good deal, though.

Aren't Frogg Toggs made of Tyvek. -or modified Tyvek?

Whatever they are, FroggToggs are more breatheable than Goretex. I mean - like putting on a wet polyester shirt under FroggToggs, treking out in the rain, and going to bed with the shirt dry. -wearing FroggTogg pants all day without needing GoldBond or getting irritation.

Default tyvek vs. 2 mil poly?

What's the advantage of tyvek for a groundsheet over 2 mil poly plastic? Is it tougher?

It's washable and not nearly as slippery.

Are you sure it's Tyvek? Looks like plastic wallpaper to me!

Thanks. I've been wondering what the appeal was. Slipping is always an issue, as I usually sleep under the stars in CA.

Frogg Toggs are made from microporuos polypropylene - I think that's completely different from Tyvek. At least they don't look or feel the same.
