Backpacking chair failure points

What was the failure point in your mass production backpacking chair(s)? Or predictions of such.

Improvement mods to consider?

Looking at the average chair for these days, I’m considering duck tape etc. or fabric repair tape, or ???, or something like pvc caps or the like.
To go into the pockets in the material where the tubing inserts. Yes chair protection.

I’ve been irritated over two decades with your average outdoor chair extreme premature failures, and maybe some of these ideas are needed to raise chair prices.

What ideas do you have to raise chair prices. And make your camp chair last longer.

I've had a thermarest chair for quite a long time now. Still holding up. I'm not a fan of the newer design where they have opened the sleeve that wraps around the top and bottom. Used to be a pocket which I feel is a little firmer.

I have several of the small framed chairs which weren't advertised as backpacking chairs when I purchased them so I only paid $25 for them. About the same size and weight as the hiking models. I take them to concerts and festivals sometimes. They tend to sink into wet ground as they don't have wide feet. They are also about 1/2 pound heavier them my T-rest chair.

Don’t know and started to lean towards that style stool but decided I want a chair that can remove as much weight from my feet, legs, back as much as possible.
A slight reclined chair like backpacking chairs kinda sorta almost get you in a laying down position giving your body almost a close to maximum resting position. So I’m going in the chair direction instead of a stool type.

If there are any gear making heads that think they have the ability to manufacture, market, profit well from a furniture design idea.

over the many years ive been backpacking i had so many good ideas but no money to make them a reality. made prototypes, but never went to market. i would have no idea where to start either.

are you a venture capitalist or manufacture? these days with the internet, im sure its alot easier to find people that can develope and market ideas.

Tho I have recently come up with a completely different chair idea that for starters can be accomplished very small scale and will completely “revolutionize” UL backpacking seating and above in the trees and beyond.

I believe gossamer gear or eno could make the best initial run of it tho.

I carry 2 feet of FORJ Thermoplastic Tape. It is wierd, so try a piece before you leave. It simply is incredible. Once set, it is solid, will not wear thru or come undone like duct tape. It does not replace duct tape, but is is the answer to anything that is a rod: tent poles, fishing poles and especially trekking poles. It is a simple, permanent field repair. It is available at the world's largest known online retailer. I ran into a guy who had his glued Vibram sole detach from the forward foot section of his boot. I heated the water trailside, dropped the tape in for just a few seconds, quickly wrapped his sole(I had 4 feet), then he was back on trail. I ran into him a few days later at Lone Pine after summiting Whitney, and not even the Sierra granite wore it in 2. It will permanently repair anything that can be wrapped and does not flex.
