A lone, gray wolf on the A.T. is a hungry beast you should not pet.

LW, Circuit Rider and Sherlock were spotted today on Springer. They left before I did, and the register was still there when I left. But I was afraid to check the shelter.

Saw Dances with Mice in the Springer parking lot. He was wrapping up his Georgia Loop hike and headed back up to Gooch to pick up some trash someone had left there. Thanks DWM, for going the extra mile.

Not so good time, he ran into bad trail conditions and had to cut the hike short. Blowdowns, and eroded side hill, I think he said.

Back home. Blowdowns are expected on the DRT, but I'm afraid major portions of that trail west of Coosa Bald no longer exist. I had to bail out onto the parallel Forest Service road and either get a shuttle back to my car or extend my vacation.

But I hauled 25'ish pounds of trash out of Gooch Mtn shelter and got an apparently never-used (not even once!) tent that had also been left at the shelter.
