    Default Off I go...

Well folks, the day has finally come... Tommorow at 11:00 I hop a train from the lovely Nutmeg State down to Gainesville. I should step off the train on Sunday morning, find my way to Amicalola where I will spend the night, and hit the approach trail crack of dawn monday.

I've mostly trolled here, and am indebted to all of you for creating such a great archive of knowledge on the web.

    Happy trails!

    Rob

p.s. - if you see me between Springer and Neels Gap, hit me up for some of the excellent homemade jerky I'm carrying... It's really tasty, if I do say so! I'll be the beanpole with the big ole green external frame pack.

Good Luck Rob! I will be heading back to the trail myself this weekend. I have completed the section between Springer and Neels already and will be getting back on at Neels probably Monday.

Just a note from experience this year, make sure that you take advantage of all the water you can when you can. Rain has been lacking in the area and water sources are low. Camel up real good before leaving Hawk Mountain Shelter to get to Justus Creek as this is a long stretch of waterless trail that created issues for me and lots of others this year.

There is water at Cooper Gap if you really need it but it is a walk down either of the two roads that cross there. Go North on 15 about a 100 yds or go east on 42 about a 1/4 mile if you exhaust your water going over Sassafras.

See you on down the trail!
