Early Bird Progress Report

I'm at the Bears Den hostel in northern VA, mile 988. I should be in Harpers Ferry on Sunday. The roller coaster was a real test. I made it by staying focused on the pizza here at the hostel. Yum!! There are a bunch of thrus here tonight, including Rock Man, Chill Out, The Dude, Wet Socks, Castenets, Truffles and Ross

Yes, I saw Waffle at the Bears Den Hostel. He was hiking with the Dude. However, the Dude had to get off for a while around Harpers Ferry because he did a long day with new boots. Trashed his feet.

p.s., I'm at Pine Grove Furnace. Taking a couple days off at home, then on to the second half.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Yes I did. The only kind they had was vanilla with stips of peanut butter in it. Almost made me gag.

I'm in Andover, ME now. About 260 miles to go. Very mixed emotions at this point - looking forward to being done, but knowing I'll miss it like crazy when I am done. Breadless Horseman and I are at the Pine Ellis hostel.

I stayed at the White Wolf Motel last night. 184 miles to go, but who's counting!!

I summited Katahdin today. I've been hiking with two great guys, Pressure D, a section hiker, and Walking Cowboy, a thru. We were joined on the summit hike today by Fred, a section hiker from Roanoke, VA and Flaxseed, a thru from Houston.

I was a thru-hiker, but now I am through hiking!! Not really, but I am done with this adventure.
