    Unhappy done for the season

had to hang it up just short of the NY/CT line. took a decent slide in NY and pulled a quad .slipped around for the next 3 days and aggravated again . last 2 days were 10 and 6 miles on one leg while being very careful. at 1-1.5 mph realized that was it. glad to get back home to my black lab Kelsey who made it 800 miles to hogpen gap.

to all the nobo hikers-best of luck and thanks for enriching the at experience
will look to complete this next season

Congratulations for a really good effort... Some say the last states are the best... You can take your time next year!

The joy is in the journey - not the time limits nor the destination.

    furthur,

Good job-really good job. I had (well at least I thought it prudent) to get off the trail after almost 400 miles. The trail will be there. Enjoy your success. I pulled my left leg quad when I was in the service, and it hurt real bad-but it will heal if you give it the rest it deserves. Again, congrats on your hike.

If Whiteblaze is at all representative of the wider community of AT hikers, there are more of us posting here who did not complete the journey than of those who did. So there is a high degree of identification with you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond.
