    Default Coosa Backcountry Trail

Skidsteer and I will be hiking the Coosa Backcountry Trail this weekend, and we're putting out a general call for anyone who can make the trip. The CBT is a loop trail and a little over 13 miles, and is rated as "strenuous" by Tim Homan in "The Hiking Trails of North Georgia. We will be meeting at the visitor center at Vogel State Park. PM Skidsteer or me for details.

Well, you can console yourself with the thought that the weather's gonna suck:

    Sep 15 Saturday
Clouds giving way to sun . Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 50s.
    Sep 16 Sunday
Sunshine. Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 50s.

However, we will moon the cog railway if we see it.

OK then ...I'm over it !! Gonna be gorgeous here in Wyoming ...

Have a great hike and forget all that quiet, non-alcoholic consumption at the shelter stuff.

Hmmm, according to the latest forecast we've got a 50% chance of rain persisting until dark on Saturday.

    Notes to self:
    1. Bring swim fins
    2. Go to Standing Indian when the leaves change, get a photo and send it to 'Slogger

I can't make this one, I'm afraid, but what is this "rain" stuff you mentioned? I think I've heard that term before but can't seem to remember...

At this point I haven't seen rain in so long I'm even willing to hike in it.

Nice thundershower at my place right now BTW.

You have no idea how bad I want a photo of Skids and myself in swim fins right now. I can see it now, packs, hiking shorts, wool socks and a set of fins. Now tell that wouldn't be stylin'!

Well ...since you mentioned it I thought I oughta share the following website with you:

Just use your imagination and visualize the fins attached to hiking boots !!

Now I'm having visions of 'Slogger slithering around in his infamous red dress and a pair of matching high-heeled swim fins.

'Slogger, I regret to inform you that the weather situation is improving rapidly, and therefore I probably will not require the high-heeled swim fins for this trip.

I am truly remorseful about this sorry turn of events and will try to make it up to you by getting some good photos.

    Last call!

Not really. Anybody is welcome to come along, even if they don't decide until the last minute.

    Weather looks great!

The weather was perfect and it was a fun hike as usual.

Two Speed and I talked about trying to do this once a month or so because it's a good training hike. When we do, we'll put the call out on WB if anyone wants to come along.
