    He posted the other day that he was taking a few 4-day passes (commanders have the authority to give individual soldiers a four day weekend that isn't chargeable leave) and getting started on his hike, so that may be where he is.

    Yeah, it is in his latest entry trail journal and in his profile info at the top of his posts.

    I tried to get a reader acct on trailjournals, but there isnt a button to press for it. Do I need to just make a regular trail acct to sub to keep up with Rock or other folks who are hiking the AT?

    Been lurking for a while...but I just noticed on SGT Rock's info area at top of his posts it says:

    You don't need any account. Just click on currently hiking or type a name in the search box and start reading.

    Rock begins his NOBO BMT/AT hike today (January 4th) and is taking 14 zeros to finalize his retirement plans and attending SoRuck before he starts hiking in earnest beginning the 26th/27th.
