Help Alabama develop a new trail system

Ok, so the city of Sylacauga and the National Forest Service want your opinion about developing a new multiuse trail system in Alabama near the Talladega National Forest. This trail system could eventually tie into to several others including the Pinhoti and other long trails (GET,ECT).

If you haven't already please go and check out this survey. If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a link to the web version of the survey and the whole thing only takes a couple of minutes to take. Please help us voice an opinion of what this new trail system should be used for so that it does not become a wasted tract of land.
This is our chance to make a difference before someone else makes all the decisions for us.

The biggest new trail in Canada is one of these, the Trans Canada Trail. What with all the rail to trail projects, this seems to be a trend. There is also a foot trail project to cross Canada, called the National Trail, and as far as I can see, it is going nowhere. All the completions are sections of other existing trails that happen to go in the right direction, for the most part.

In London, where I live, there is a riverside walking trail (The Thames Valley Trail) and a parallel city trail system that is paved and multiuse. More of the city trails are being "improved" to bear the wheeled traffic of cyclists, along with the joggers and dog walkers and families with prams, etc. These areas are mostly mini-roads, sterile and uninteresting for hiking.

Of course this is disconcerting for hikers, but realistically, where do we expect the money to come from? The most successful Canadian foot trail, the Bruce Trail, has all kinds of Toronto supporters with money. Other trails are not so fortunate. If we want more foot trails, we will have to come up with the money ourselves, by subscribing or by fund raising.

The point being that if you take the survey and tell them not to, they might just listen. If you don't say anything though and just assume the worst then it will definitely happen.

Footpath trail only. I avoid hiking trails that allow mountain bikes.
