    Default hiker trash

I have read on here about hiker trash. What do you have to do to become hiker trash? If you just have to have a shirt made that says HIKER TRASH I could probably make one. Lets say that I become hiker trash what do I have to do then to represent. Just trying to figure stuff out.

Do a search on hiker trash. Sgt Rock said I was hiker trash. I consider that the highest compliment considering the source.

I think it derives from being cheap and not getting completely outfitted by Dick's employees yet somehow managing to survive on the trail day after day.

Rock once said my gear was so old, the first-aid kit had leeches in it. I still don't know how he knew.
I'm not really a hiker, I just play one on White Blaze.

Hiker Trash. If you're enjoying the trail with each step, and agonizing some of those same steps,
If you're smiling with some trail friends at the end the day or a resupply stop
If you're thinking that you've found a part of what you want your life to be when you're on the trail
And your aroma becomes self accepted
If at any moment you think about the alternatives you've lived - or will live
    that are off trail
And you basque in what the trail has helped you become -
Then maybe you've found the essence of hiker trash.

I thought perhaps I might have been edging toward hiker trash on my thru-hike, but then I realized that by being a purist, I was pretty much forever banned from being true hiker trash.

The closest I can come is knowing that Wolf was willing to share a shot of his Gentleman Jack with me at Tabard House while we were in Hanover. That was an honor, and an outstanding whiskey!
If people spent less time being offended and more time actually living, we'd all be a whole lot happier!

So it has nothing to do with the tee shirt or having a long beard?

Rules friggin schmules....do what you want, hike how you want, etc, etc, and live your life in the same manner. Uptight, anal, rule oriented people can't be trash. I ain't talkin' about breakin laws, I'm just saying...aw ****e, ya' can't explain, so I'll go back to either you are or you aren't, and if you have to ask, you ain't!

Some think they did. I likened my self and my trail friends to hiker trash. We all knew it was a good thing. And I'll be livin within it again soon. Oh and see y'all that are coming to Billville.

after finishing up a hike, immediately getting off the trail and living in the cheapest possible conditions to save up for the next thru-hike.

    Not attempting to be 'successful'
