    Default GPS's and software

Does anyone use a GPS? What kind and which software do you use? I have a Magellan Explorist 500 LE and want some software that will download to a SD card.

I looked on the magellan website this morning and they have a CD MapSend Topo 3D USA and it looked good but I do not think you can download the "whole Thing" to a SD card. I am thinking you can only download sections. I am not exactly techno literate so be patient with me!

I have a Magellan that I use with MapSend Topo, it loads onto an SD card quite easily. I can put about half of the country on a 256 meg card in separate 64K chunks, the unit will combine them as you travel so it appears as one large map.

I have several GPS units. My favorite is my DeLorme. It allows me to download ToPo maps and even satellite images.

    Check it out here: http://www.gpsreview.net/delorme-earthmate-gps-pn-20/

However, I don't carry a GPS unit when hiking on the AT. It is unnecessary weight.
