Santa is now employing flying moose for better mileage and faster deliveries. Word. Heard it on Santa Tracking station. It's gotta be true.

They exist. I saw them riding giant turtles down the trail some years ago.

I have a friend who is also convinced moose do not exist. Try as she may, she has never seen one. She was staying with me one year in a cabin in Randolph NH and all she could talk about was how she wanted to see a moose and had tried and tried and has never seen a moose. She signed up for the Moose Tour out of Gorham, which claims a 90+ % success rate of moose sightings. Me, I've seen plenty of moose so I elected to stay home, sit on the porch, and enjoy a few beers.

You know the rest of the story. The moose tour was skunked that night. They saw nothing. And me, of course a moose nonchalantly came trotting down the street that night past my porch. It actually stopped and looked at me for a moment as if it was mocking her. Moose are mischievous creatures.

The secret is how to spot them. Most people look for moose at the tree line where woodlands break into meadows or in shallows around ponds and marshes. The trick is to look up. They are in the trees. Not recognizing this, people can go their entire lives without seeing any, but pass under dozens they never see lurking above them.

Moose do blend in. Certainly better than Mona Lisa Vito and Vinny Gambini in Alabama.
