Default saying goodbye to my best friend

i just wanted to tell all of bears and my friends that we lost a great friend today. bear was born on december29th 1993 she was 14 years old. we didnt find the appalachian trail til she was 5yrs old. but made alot of great friends over the years, she wasn't perfectly suited for the trail. but we loved each others company! she was a big ole black dog. over heated easy. we night hiked alot! on our first thru in 99', i had her carry a pack for less than a 100 miles then we tossed that in a hiker box,and i took pride in carrying her gear/food.for the next 6,000 miles! on our last two long distance hikes i wanted her to stay with me on our journey, but not hurt her.or have her do all the miles! with the help of great people like(night stalker, miss janet, bob&pat peoples, wild child, bonzo, bag o trick, rob in dalton, blister sister)and many more- i was able to get her time off(zero days) while i did insane mileage. i feel so empty right now,but at least shes no longer in pain. to all that ever cared for bear or helped her in any way. thankyou

Unfortunately I never met Bear, but she must have been an extraordinary friend to you, and those who met her. All the lives that she touched over her years will have benefited so much.

We just put our minpin down a couple of weeks ago. We have another 15yo dog that will need to be put down too as well. He's having more and more trouble with his hind legs. My sympathies to you, I know how you feel.

You have my deepest sympathies, friend. I have known many dogs on the trail, but not many trail dogs. I am sad to hear that I know one less.

Sorry to hear about your loss. We've gone through this 5 times now, and it never gets any easier. Take comfort in your memories, and know that Bear is on the other side, waiting to go on that Great Hike with you.

I am very sorry for your loss. It is one of the hardest things we have to go through in this life.
The joy they bring is worth the sorrow we feel when they have to go.
