    Default Mitten hooks?

I just got a pair of ULA Rain Mitts, and I've got a question I had when I got a pair of gloves months back. What are the point of the hooks on the mitts/gloves? I've seen video of mountaineers hanging them from the roof of their tents, but I never understood why. Are there other uses? Just like to know before I cut them off.

Beats the string up and over the sleeves, on your mittens as a kid.

Some folks use them to attach to their jacket so they can remove them without them falling or having to be stuffed in a pocket. I personally always cut them off.

When the mitts are clipped together it gives you a way to hang them over a line so they can dry out. When you're not wearing them the clips will ensure you don't lose one and wind up with half a pair left. You'll either loose them both or none at all
