Weird Question?

Okay, I don't know if this is weird or if there is an obvious answer but what do you do about cutting your fingernails and toenails while on the trail for several months? Does someone carry fingernail clippers? Do you?

Small Swiss Army Knife with scissors. Get one with tweezers, also, to pull out the inevitable tick.

I had it in my bounce box to start.

But I found the scissors on my compact jackknife adequate, at least for fingernails. Maybe even for toenails if they are soft enough, like after a shower or after hiking.

The SAK Classic have good smooth scissors that do the job for me. But I don't have gnarly toenails. The scissors are good for dernear everything - including making a new stove when the mood strikes.

I don’t take a walk around the neighborhood without my Swiss Champ SAK, I surely would not hike without it.

Among all the things on it includes scissors, they work good for this.

The worst I have ever hurt, in 40+ years of hiking, was as a 15-year old boy on my first weeklong solo. An ingrown toenail got badly infected. Think everything short of amputation.
For any hike less than a week, I now include "foot inspection" as part of normal preparation. Hikes longer than a week include clippers for my admittedly heavy-duty (ok, gnarly) toenails.
