I've got a pair of those. Very light weight. Straps on securely. Material is thin, not durable for miles, but perfect for camp or stream crossings.

I love my Vivobarefoot Ultras, but it looks like they have been discontinued and are difficult to find. Just pulled the trigger on a pair of those Dawgs for $9.99 all in. For that price, definitely worth a shot. https://www.usadawgs.com/collections...ite-shoes-bkbk

I usually need to get up multiple times a night so a camp shoe is nice if not too much of a burden. With base weight already under 15 pounds, including Crocs, the dawgs looked like a worthwhile try. Thanks for the info.

Although the weight per pair was discussed previously in this thread, the size was not, so you are forgiven!

Mine are size M(men's 10/11) and weigh 8.4 ounces PER PAIR. I noted that some material has worn off and that a general description of 8.5 or 8.6 ounces is good to go....

Thanks. I have a pair of Waldies in XL size that weigh 12.3 oz, which are lighter than my old crocs by 4 ounces. I might get a pair just to see. The price alone is worth it.

Thank you ScareBear. I was going with my 9.7 oz. Waldies through Maine next year, but I'm willing to spend 10 buck to save an ounce. Just placed my order.

I normal don't take camp shoes, but wanted something for river crossings.

Old school: a cheap pair of moccasins. I only took Crocs on a few hikes, didn't work for me. Not heavy but way bulky.

If you hike in trail runners, another option is: none. Don't really need em'.

True...but I still like to let my dawgs breathe after a sweaty day on trail.

The velcro straps on these are easy to loop through a loop or 'biner on the back or side of your pack...I don't notice bulky on the back of my pack...YMMV...

If use crocs. Hang them off the back of my pack. Not worried about the extra "weight"(?) they bring. Not enough to notice.

I am definitely interested in the Dawgs. My shoe size is 9.5 with a very wide forefoot. Any suggestions as to whether I order the 8/9 or 10/11? Many thanks.

I read comments saying the Dawgs ran a bit large. But I would rather it be too large versus small. Mine should be here today. I will post about the sizing once they arrive.

My Hounds just came in the mail.

First impressions, sleek and light. Not quite as comfortable as my Crocs. But a little better looking. The Hounds do run a bit large. I am a size 10 and it would probably fit a size 11. But the Velcro strap on top of the shoe holds it in place without much sliding around.

    shoes.JPG

Hound on the left, Croc on the right.

    Now for the weight difference.

    shoe1.JPG

    Hound - 4.51 ounces

    shoe2.JPG

    Croc - 6.77 ounces

2.26 oz. saving per shoe or 4.52 ounces for the pair.

That is a decent weight savings for the $10 delivered cost.

I'd go with the M(10/11) due to the forefoot width...but...I am a 10 1/2 and the M's fit me perfectly...wide forefoot here as well...

Dude! I should have bought stock in the company! LOL!

But, seriously, is there anything else in the backpacking world that will save you 4.5 ounces for $10? My rule of thumb is $10 bucks an ounce!!!!

But everyone should remember that with the light weight comes a price. These are not going to last forever. In fact, based on my use(I use them to go to/from water sources of up to .2 miles after making camp, crossing streams that are deeper than boot-top, and in camp) I predict a life-span of 180 nights or so in camp...this is based on sole wear...YMMV!!!

But we are talking ten bucks here....

Exclamation Guess I won't be carrying those any more!

I just weighed one of my size 13 knockoff Crocs. 213 grams (7 1/2 ounces) for a single shoe.

    Walmart has some as well.

    $9.99

7.6 ounces on the food scale for size 8. For the pair, about half that per shoe.
