    Default hiking entertainment

I was just wondering some fun things or games people do on the trail to entertain themselves. Or games you have played with other hikers, Or fun things that you do with yourself or others when you get those boots off and food into your tummy.

spring is definatly showing signs of coming up here in Maine NOBO geese and lots of sun. have fun during the summer months everyone!

Fart baseball? I'm camping with the wrong people. I bring along crossword puzzles, Sudoku, word games. They're light, you can rip them out of local papers as you go, and they help keep the mind a little more active.

On our 100 mile trek in PA, my brother and I just played the listing game while hiking. Examples: List Taco Bell Menu items, or shops at our local mall. Last one to answer wins.

Default More fun than it sounds

There's a game called "Alyson Hannigan." It's named after the actress who played Willow on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the band dork in American Pie.

You need 6+ people for it to be fun. Each person writes the name of 5 people that everybody would likely know (can be historical, athlete, actor, politician, fictional character...just don't go too obscure because then it's no fun). You team up in pairs and draw the names out of a hat and try to figure out as many as possible, and when your minute is up, you pass the hat to the next team. Each round continues until all the names have been used. The game proceeds in three rounds:

Round 1: You can say anything you want to your partner to get them to guess the name, except the name itself, rhymes with "---", spelling it, or any other obviously lame ways to cheat. By the way, for each team's turn there is one clue giver and one name guesser. Reverse roles next turn.

Round 2: You can say two words per name. That's it.

Round 3: No words but can act it out.

The beauty of the game is that as the difficulty in communicating increases, you're hearing the same set of names for a second and third time. This makes everyone pay attention even when it's not there turn...so they can get it next round. Way better than charades or similar games, and if you use that day's map to write the names down, it's UL. Sounds stupid, I know, but mix in a little alcohol and hilarity will ensue.

Final recommendation: this is really inappropriate, but "Helen Keller" should be one of the names every time this game is played. It get's funnier and more offensive each round.
