I have a nice BA 15 deg down bag for most of the year. However it's too much bag for over 40 deg. I've thought about saving up for a nice WM bag, but they don't offer padlocks. I'm open to suggestions.

Kelty light year comes in both down and synthetic. I have the synthetic one and like it. I like the footzip the most, but part of the reason for my purchase was the sleeping pad locks. I'm not sure how the down one compares weight-wise to others in its class.
Another idea though is a quilt. I can roll under mine and don't have problems with it bunching up. Some quilts have wings too, but I don't know if they get placed under the pad. Could be quilts with locks as well. I have a golite quilt that uses velcro to attach to the pad.

For summer use, a quilt is a great option. I made a RayWay quilt and love it. Warm, lightweight, and (relatively) cheap.
The necessities of life weigh less than 20 pounds. Everything else is a luxury.
I've kinda narrowed it a little bit:
BPL Light Pro 90 quilt $130
Fanatic Fringe UL 40 deg quilt $129
Kelty Lightyear XP 40 $80
Sierra Designs Tocho $70
Sierra Designs Arrow Rock 45 (down) $110
I have the arrow rock 15* and am a big fan of it. It has the same tech has the montbell SS bags in that it stretches and it has the pad straps too

You can find these on sale: Sierra Designs Wicked Light 45. Comes with pad locks and actually has the same fill weight as many 30 degree bags but is hoodless.
Mountain Hardware makes a bag called the "FLIP" I forget the ratings but one side is more insulated than the other. Might give you a little more cushion on you backside in warm weather. I thing the ratings are 25/40.
I also think it is semi-rectangular, so i would probably make a nice quilt.
I also think it is cheap...under a 100 bucks
Here is the link...89.99 thats cheap

I recommend Lafuma lightweight bags. I seem to be the only proponent of them on WB. I have two Lafuma bags now and they are awesome! Light, highly compressible and easy on the wallet. See them on eBay all the time. Only dealer I know of is SunDog Outfitters in Damascus.

What are pad locks?
A 30 degree LaFuma makes a great summer bag. Just add 10 degrees to their temp rating. Wow, that flip is almost 3#.
