    Default Dahlgren Backpacker Campground

Does anyone know when the showers and water are turned off for the season at Dahlgren Backpacker Campground?

Thru Hikers' companion shows it is open from April to October. I would think it may be weather dependent. Or not.

Yup, the companion mentions it. I would rather have a nice shower.

I was there in mid-March (a year ago). Doors were locked. There's a water spigot up the road about 100 yds maybe.

On the service road, 100 yards north of the shower/restroom building you will find this:

Is the campground hammock-friendly? Plenty of trees?

When I hiked passed there last year all I could see where campsites in a open field. There were woods around the edges of the field but I don't know if you can camp there.

When we hiked through there in 2015 there were several in our group that hung their hammocks in the trees surrounding the field. Have a great hike!

I passed by two weeks ago and saw hammocks. There's trees everywhere over there
