Sewing them on is very hard but I tried the glues for that and it just dried up and the patches fell off.

I think there cool
tells a story and opens a conversation
My patches are the only thing holding my pack together.....LOL!! But yes, they are conversation starters and sort of tell a story about the person and their life on and off the trail. Take care!

Patches... we don't need no stinking patches
I guess it goes back to my Boy Scout days, but yes, I sew patches on my pack and tack medallions to my hiking staff. So what, it adds a few ounces, but more than makes up for it around the campfire, when everybody compares notes and tells stories.
I've had patches on past packs. If you sew them on, then put duct tape over the thread holes on the inside of the pack, it will stay water resistant. They are a great conversation starter.
If you enjoy them and want them on your pack then do it.
Don't worry about what others will think.
On the subject of patches, there are a lot of places that i can't seem to find patches for, for instance Shenandoah, I even checked their gift shop. Anyone know of places to pick up hard to find patches?
thanks guys, don't feel like a moron anymore.

ps squinty, love the pic
can't complain about the weight of the patch with THAT hat on!
