    Default Long Plastic Spoon

I use a long plastic spoon that I got at a local ice cream shop.

    Cost - $0 ( just ask)

    Weight - 3 grams

Function - I have yet to have a problem eating my food with this spoon.

This post is 50 % serious, 50% a joke. I really use the spoon.

Maybe if you drilled holes in the handle you could get the weight down to 2 grams.

    This response is 100% silly.

I've used the red Dairy Queen spoons (Blizzard) for years. They don't hold up well but it gives me an excuse to get another one.

I agree with your idea, but i found the flaw that they are not very sturdy. I did find a long handled Lexan Soup Spoon at REI which I have come to love over a lot of other eating utensils.

When my nice lexan spoon finally broke, I used a succession of deli spoons for the rest of the hike. They're all I use now. If the spoon breaks, it's easy enough to finish a meal with homemade chopsticks. They're lying all over the place.

My 70 cent lexan spork lasted the whole hike and I liked it. Glad to know I wouldn't chance melted plastic in my pot when I'm cooking.
I mean, I guess you could put the 70 cents to some other good use. Not sure what else costs 70 cents in the hiking world that lasts all 2,000 miles...but

A pepsi can stove comes to mind, and a used Gatorade bottle, but not much else, especially something that gets used every day!

Jamba Juice, McDonald's Flurry, Dairy Queen Blizzard...ice tea spoons and more one can find.

Though in the end I prefer my $1.95, 1/2 ounce, GSI ReHydrate long handled spoon. They are made of copolyester now and not Lexan.

I gave a snarky quote on a trail runners list..not knowing they'd actually use my quote!

Speaking of spoons..I know some people swear by the Wendy's Frosty spoon. Me? I use the Lexan spoon. I received a few for free..why not use them?

the McDonald's FLURRY SPOON was a big disappointment to me1

The handle is hollow and therefore sturdy, but, there is a hole in the handle near the spoon end. Liquid from my meal would leak into the handle and then leak back out at inopportune times.

    I retired it.

The Spork from Walmart is my darling now. It did cost 2 or 3 $$ but seems indestructible.

I give up! .....what about a plastic stirring spoons from the dollar store? The logical replacement for wooden spoons. Oh wait I can carve that in camp!

    Nevermind.....

I use a 8.5" titanium spoon, cost about $13 shipped and fits my jetboil and other pots.

Chop sticks from Nothin' But Noodles and the rubber connector thingy from the kids meal look like they would be great.

Titanium spoons and sporks are a waste of money. There are many lower priced and lighter spoons out there.
