Seems like kind of a late start to me. You should have good weather in the northern states, but you'll be hitting some serious winter weather in the south.

    Trail Name: Over The Hill
Direction: either a AT thru hike NOBO, or Long Trail in Vermont in June, then catch a ride back to where LT/AT diverges and do the VT-NH-Maine sections of AT.
Est Start Date: AT thruhike: Late April/early May 2010 LT/AT sections: May-June
Grew up in NH with AT pretty much in my backyard. Have done several 2-5 day hikes on portions in the Franconia-Conway stretch growing up. Time to do thruhike b4 I am too damn old.
Trying to line up a body or 2 to do the AT thru, may attempt it Solo if no luck getting another carzy soul to walk in the woods with me. Will probably lean towards LT/AT sect. plan if I end up solo and do the south portion next year.

*lights a votive candle for the Old Man of The Mountain* Still in shock that fell, my boyhood town is just up the road. Never take anything for granted.

Hey, sorry, I changed my plans slightly...I am taking the overnight Amtrak, leaving from Philly on the 1st and starting the hike on the 2nd. If you can and want to come down a day earlier, let me know! If not, I am sure I'll see you out there.
