    Default crocs

I started the AT with 2 pairs of shoes... northface trail runners and a pair of crocs... I hiked 20 miles in the trail runners and have since hiked 680 miles in my crocs (one pair)

I am not saying hike in crocs... but they are working awesome for me... have a lot of pros. Most folks think I am nuts... but crocs are surely worth checking out... if for nothing else at least camp shoes!!!

    just thought I'd share...

I will be impressed if you cross all of PA in your crocs...

I love my crocs but only around camp, when crossing streams, ect. My feet need more support on the trail. Fantastic that they work for you! A lot cheaper than buying a few expensive pairs of boots/trail runners.

I'd like to see you get thru all of PA in Crocs as well. I am seriously skeptacle that you will be able to. Crocs are great around camp or for streem crossing but really don't offer much support. And that heel strap keeps breaking on me!

I disagree: if someone can hike the AT barefoot, then they can certainly get through PA in a pair of Crocs. Maybe not quickly, and maybe the worse for wear, but they can do it if they perservere.

Glad you got tough feet and ankles. But I guess is some can do it barefoot, why not?

I think the idea was... not that the hiker couldn't make it in Crocs, but that the Crocs wouldn't make it on rocks.
If you're in a hurry, why are you walking?

I've met someone last year who walk through Maine and climbed Katahdin in crocs. He had only good comments about them. Maybe its an acquired taste?

Actually, I would think that the Crocs would give out long before the feet would.

I have been trying to destroy my crocs for about 2 months now, to see how they hold up. So far they are still in great shape, and I don't think I will need to buy a new pair for my next section in a few weeks. Surprisingly I have been unable to wear my crocs out despite wearing while hiking, working, and goofing off. They have even held up to the chemicals I use to strip paint.

I am wearing a pair of Holey Soles right now that I have worn for two years. Holey Soles are the exact same as Crocs but of a different design.

I liked my crocs but a racoon made off with one of mine during the night - saw him but couldn't get out of the tent quick enough.

Now what is more worthless than 1 croc?

    Default Did someone say croc?

I just replaced my old 7 dollar Target crocs with Walmarts new 3 dollar ones. It looks like some design improvements have been made. I really hated to spend that much money on 9 ounces of foam - but you gotta pamper yourself every once in a while.
And if your reading this Mr. Target CEO, I was really disappointed to only get two years out those 7 dollar croc wanna bees.
