    Default Osprey Exos

Is anyone carrying the new Exos from Osprey?

If so, would you please give me some feedback on it? I'm looking to make a possible purchase and thought I'd go to the experts.

    Your help is appreciated!

    Happy hiking!

We got the Exos 58's and have had them on the PCT and winter camping in the High Sierra at the Lassen NF. They are well made, fit and ride well, pocket arrangement works for us and the size is good for our gear. The mesh side pockets work good. The back compartment has a drain hole and is waterproof on the pack side so you can carry wet gear with no worries.

The color is more subdued than the advertisements. We don't mind the look.

A Garcia Backpackers Cache Model 812 fits well in the pack for the areas requiring bear canisters.

We added some bungee cord and retainers on the gear loops and will be taking off the hiking pole loops that come with the packs as they get in the way and we'd never use them.

    The only issues:
    1. While the buckles don't seem to be fragile as discussed in another thread, they are a bit small (to reduce weight) and are hard to operate when your gloved fingers are numb. That's not a big deal.

    2. The waistband pockets feel like they are a little behind me and hard to get to. They would feel better mounted a bit more forward. Again, no big deal.

Otherwise we really like these packs. Hope this helps.
