Doesn't sound like they were on the trail. the parking lot's are day use areas are some of the areas that need the most attention. As far as the gun toting member to hell with that if I see you coming get ready to have your eyes gouged out with my unbreakable Light My Fire Sprok!

It's about 1.25 miles off the AT on a sidetrail from the shelter. I've parked there before for section hikes. It does seem that violence usually happens near a road, doesn't it?

This is hideous. But we have both bought small handguns. You gotta do what you gotta do to protect yourself and to hell with the do-gooders. As the Billy Joel song said "Keep it to yourself. It's my life." Not yours.
