I once was lost, then I hike the trail
The one I haven't done yet. Gosh, all have been so good, it's hard to say. Unicoi Gap to Dick Creek Gap was exceptionally good. So was the northern half of the Smokies. Day hiking from Standing Indian Mountain to Winding Stair Gap was pretty nice, in that my wife would drop me off, pick me up at the other end, feed me steak and put me into a Jacuzzi and soft bed.
After I thru hiked in 2000 we went back to the AT and hiked many different sections. Each section hike was like visiting an old friend. They were all good. I hope I have enough juice left in me to re-hike the AT next year.
Any hike that includes Cole Mt. Fields. This is tied with across the top of Apple Orchard.

Happy Lifetime Sectioner!
My favorite section hike is the one I'm on at the time, or planning for the next time out.
I've hiked the AT from Erwin to Pinkham Notch, plus Georgia and the Long Trail. My favorite short (<50 mile) sections include:
I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones that spring to mind.
- Carver's Gap to Hampton
- Damascus to Troutville
- Catawba to Daleville
- James River to Buena Vista
- Lehigh Gap to Delaware Water Gap
- High Point to NY-17
- Bear Mountain to Canopus Lake
- Bennington to Manchester Center
- Glencliff to Crawford Notch
- Crawford Notch to Pinkham Notch

bulls bridge to the ny state line in the early spring when the views and water falls are at the best
For me its any section in the white mountains in NH
For me because it is the first and only one so far has got to be Springer to neels gap. The Hemlocks and long creek falls are very memorable. BUT, I am sure there are many others and will be. Only time will tell!!!

The Presidential Traverse, Madison to Jackson.
Bennington to Manchester Center, great views, can't beat the AT in Vermont during the summer time.
