    Default Cam Tripod

I made this tripod for my camera I used A Hakko Soldering Iron common solder and some wire with some brass grommets and a 1/4in nylon bolt and nut. The total cost was 1.75 from the local hardware store. Took me about 30min to make it, I know the soldering job mite look a lil crummy but it fell apart on me when the soldier got to hot putting the second grommet on the bottom. It weighs only 19 grams, and will mold to your hiking pole so that you can hold your cam out in front of you instead of right in front of you face. It seems to work okay so far, I will be testing it out in the field this coming weekend, well Sunday I should be on the trail for a week.

    Here are the pics:

    Thank you

I found all that at the store (Ace), it was in the container with only nylon nuts and bolts. I carried my cam to the store with me to confirm what size was needed.

Looks good, should last quite awhile. Ace also has some small flexible vinyl caps to put on the ends of the legs to help out with making the footprint a little bigger.

Thanks, I will have to go look some more. I thought about something similar but could not find it so I just left it out.

    Default Tripod

EXCELLENT design! The only thing I would add is silicone tubing sleeves one the legs just to give it a grippier surface so it can cling to things like the Joby Gorilla Pod.

Nice, simple and cheap. Good work.

FWIW, the screw size needed to fit a standard tripod hole is a 1/4 x 20.

I bet those little rubber ends for closet maid shelving would fit the ends of the wires. I've been wanting a tripod I might try a version.....

Nice job, but did you consider adding a upsidedown bolt to you hiking stick? (Monopod)
Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

I don't know if I want a bolt sticking out the top of my Hiking pole. But I did think about insetting a nut into the top. That way you can remove the bolt and the nut would be flush in the handle of your pole. Not a bad idea, worth putting a little bit more thought into.

Oh ya! I bought a can of Plasti Dip for putting rubber handles on tools. Then I let my Tripod take a dip a few dips that is now it has more grip similar to your silicone tubing or rubber tips.

Save your 12 bucks and go to the hardware store and buy some wire along with two washers OMG it cost only $1.50. Oh and get a soldering iron if you know how to use one. Make your own Tripod people no need to have some item that everyone is raving about. Plus like I have stated before that item Only severs ONE purpose.

I said $1.50 that is with out taxes and it depends on what kinda washers you purchase along with how much wire you get. Last time I spent a whole 25cents more.
