A self-inflating pillow, by nature, must be made of waterproof (air proof) material and therefore is a good insulator. Nice in cold weather, frustratingly hot in warm weather. At one point I was trying to figure out how to make a sling out of mesh fabric with a small stand of some sort, but gave up when I discovered hammocking (depending upon how much sag you allow the hammock to have, you won't need a pillow in hot weather).
